Can the macroscopic fluctuation theory be quantized?

چکیده

The Macroscopic Fluctuation Theory is an effective framework to describe transports and their fluctuations in classical out-of-equilibrium diffusive systems. Whether the may be extended quantum realm which form this extension take yet terra incognita but a timely question. In short introductory review, I discuss possible questions that version of could address how analysing Quantum Simple Exclusion Processes yields pieces answers these questions.

Can Gravity be Quantized?

Since the advent of general relativity and quantum mechanics their unification has been the ultimate goal of theoretical physics. So far, however, the different approaches aimed at creating a theory of quantum gravity [1] have been unsuccessful. It seems a possible reason for this – that gravity might not be an interaction – has never been consistently examined. What also warrants such an exami...

Gravity can be neither classical nor quantized

I argue that it is possible for a theory to be neither quantized nor classical. We should therefore give up the assumption that the fundamental theory which describes gravity at shortest distances must either be quantized, or quantization must emerge from a fundamentally classical theory. To illustrate my point I will discuss an example for a theory that is neither classical nor quantized, and ...

Macroscopic Quantum Coherence in Patient-Practitioner-Remedy Entanglement: The Quantized Fluctuation Field Perspective

Lionel Milgrom’s article (1) has stirred up considerable correspondence (2), mostly due to misconceptions of various kinds. Chrastina, for example (3), is quite wrong to attack Milgrom’s work over whether coherence in quantum systems can be maintained over macroscopic distances at high temperatures. All quantum field theories in solid state physics provide examples where this kind of assumption...

Fluctuation Analysis: Can Estimates Be Trusted?

The estimation of mutation rates and relative fitnesses in fluctuation analysis is based on the unrealistic hypothesis that the single-cell times to division are exponentially distributed. Using the classical Luria-Delbrück distribution outside its modelling hypotheses induces an important bias on the estimation of the relative fitness. The model is extended here to any division time distributi...

Macroscopic fluctuation theory and first-passage properties of surface diffusion.

We investigate nonequilibrium fluctuations of a solid surface governed by the stochastic Mullins-Herring equation with conserved noise. This equation describes surface diffusion of adatoms accompanied by their exchange between the surface and the bulk of the solid, when desorption of adatoms is negligible. Previous works dealt with dynamic scaling behavior of the fluctuating interface. Here we ...
